All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: August 19, 1981 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Article NO. 1 Hebron Man Electrocuted One man from the Hebron Community is dead and another is listed in serious condition at a Shreveport hospital after they came in contact with a high voltage line Thursday morning while fighting a forest fire. Albert Jenkins, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene from electrocution by Winn Parish Coroner Randolph Williams shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday. Jenkins' companion, Harvel Dulaney, 53, was reported in serious condition at the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. According to reports, the men were called out to assist in the fighting of a forest fire between Gaars Mill and Sikes. It's believed they were attempting to move a downed utility pole when they came in contact with a guide wire that apparently was touching the live power line. Dulaney was taken to Winn General Hospital then transferred to Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport. He was later transferred to the burn unit of the LSU Medical Center. A spokesman for Louisiana Power and Light informed sheriff's deputies the line possibly was carrying 8,000 volts. Article NO. 2 Services for Albert Jenkins, 57, of Sikes were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Hebron Baptist Church with the Revs. C. W. Jones and Donnie Wise officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Southern of Winnfield. He died Thursday, August 13, 1981, in an accident on La. Highway 126, three miles east of Gaars Mill. He was a retired master sergeant in the U. S. Air Force and a member of Hebron Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Jenkins, of Sikes; one son, William Jenkins of San Angelo, Texas; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Hines of Goldonna, and Lesley Jean Tietje of Roanoke; four sisters, Mrs. James Boyd and Dollie Bailey, both of Olla, Mrs. Maxwell Smith of Sikes, and Mrs. Robert Young, of Urania; and six grandchildren.
