All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: August 25, 1949 Winn Parish Enterprise Funeral Services Held For Joe Jenkins, 86 Funeral services for Joe Jenkins, Sr., 86, of near Grayson, were held at the Beech Creek Church at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, with the Rev. Smith and Rev. Crain officiating. Last rites were conducted by the Woodmen of the World, and burial was in Beech Creek Cemetery. Mr. Jenkins, a resident of Winn Parish for 34 years, died Friday night after a long illness. He was born in Tangipahoa Parish, and for many years was employed as section foreman for Urania Lumber Co. He was a member of the Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Jenkins of Grayson; five sons, Lewis, Andrew, and Clarence Jenkins of Winnfield; Warren Jenkins of Clarks, La.; and Grady Jenkins of California; four daughters, Mrs. Lavell Crain of Grayson, Mrs. Loyd Boyett and Mrs. Sherwood Whitten of California, and Mrs. Sam King of Olla; one brother, two half brothers, and one sister. Woodmen served as pallbearers.
