Jenkins, age 44, died Wednesday morning about ten o'clock from burns received when his clothing became ignited from a gasoline blaze as he was sitting near a fire Monday morning in the McCloy filling station. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon conducted by the Rev. Alwin Stokes and interment was made in the Winnfield Cemetery under the direction of Winnfield Funeral Home, local funeral directors. The deceased is survived by his widow, two children, Joy, age 9, and Clyde, Jr., age 4, mother, Mrs. Rosa Jenkins, one sister, Mrs. L. E. Eiland of Winnfield, three brothers, Fred Jenkins of Warren, Ark., Jimmie and Cecil Jenkins of Winnfield. He was a member of the Baptist Church with membership at Wesson, Ark. According to the information obtainable a paint gun that contained gasoline was accidentally upturned near the stove inside the McCloy filling station, spilling the gasoline that burst into the flames which enveloped Mr. Jenkins who was sitting close by. He immediately ran out of the room in to the open and by the time Ardis McElroy and a negro boy, witnesses to the accident, could get him and roll him over in the gravel he had sustained serious burns. He was taken to a local clinic where his burns were dressed and later moved to his mother's, Mrs. Rosa Jenkins' home, where he died Wednesday morning.
