After Brief Illness Funeral services for Andrew Jenkins, 72, of Winnfield were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church of Winnfield. Dr. W. L. Holcomb officiated and Masonic grave site services were conducted in the Garden of Memories Cemetery near here. Burial was under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Winnfield. Mr. Jenkins died Thursday night, April 1, 1971, at the Rapides General Hospital in Alexandria following a short illness. A native of Brookhaven, Miss., he was a lifelong resident of Winnfield and was retired from the Illinois Central Railroad. Mr. Jenkins held memberships in the Eastern Star Masonic Lodge No. 151 F. & A. M. of Winnfield, El Karubah Shrine and Shreveport Consistory. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lois Jenkins of Winnfield; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Plunkett of Montgomery, Mrs. Breard Carpenter of Winnfield, and Mrs. C. E. Watson of Baton Rouge; four brothers, Louis Jenkins and Clarence Jenkins, both of Winnfield, Warren Jenkins of Houma, and Grady Jenkins of Odessa, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Clara King of Olla, Mrs. Sherwood Whitten of Scotia, Calif., Mrs. Lloyd Boyette of Oceanside, Calif., and Mrs. Louella Crain of Grayson; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
