J. Jackson, of Ashland, died in the Natchitoches Sanitarium Sunday after an operation for appendicitis. John was the grandson of Mrs. J. R. Watts, Sr., of Winnfield, and was a visitor to Winnfield about a month ago. He formerly lived here with his parents. The many friends of the family here are grieved to learn of his untimely death. John was a member of the sophomore class of the Ashland High School. He is survived by his parents, two sisters, and three brothers. Funeral services were held at the Saline Baptist Church Monday afternoon, Rev. Singleton, officiating. Interment was in the Saline Cemetery. The following relatives and friends from Winnfield attended the funeral services: Jim Watts and family; Mrs. C. F. Walsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Prentice Watts, Mrs. J. R. Watts, Sr., and Misses Edith and Velma Lee Watts.
