All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: April 23, 1953 Winn Parish Enterprise Mrs. Avis Jones, Former Resident, Dies In Leesville Funeral services for Mrs. Avis Curry Jones, 75, were held Saturday in Leesville, following her death there last Friday, April 18. Mrs. Jones, wife of Dr. F. T. Jones, Sr., was the sister of Mrs. J. W. "Aunt Bloss" Teddlie, of Winnfield, and daughter of the late Jane Hicks and S. C. Curry of near Montgomery. Mrs. Jones lived in Winn Parish for many years and moved to Leesville in 1902. Her father, S. C. Curry, was a pioneer citizen of Winn and Grant Parishes, serving more than 20 years on the Grant Parish Police Jury, and playing an active part in the organization of the Mount Zion Church in Winn Parish. Mrs. Jones was a prominent member of the Methodist Church and was a past State President of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Survivors include two children, F. T. Jones, Jr. of Houston, Texas a Mrs. Eddie Brink of Leesville; three grandchildren, one great grandchild, one sister, Mrs. J. W. Teddlie of Winnfield, and several nieces and nephews. Attending the funeral from here were Mrs. J. W. Teddlie, Miss Lowice Teddlie, Mrs. S. M. Brian, Sr., Miss Eula Brian, Sam Brian and children, Susie and Sammy.
