Jones Laid To Rest In The Winnfield Cemetery Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas H. Jones, 79 years, were held at the Winnfield Presbyterian Church, Friday morning, December 4th, 1931, with the pastor, Rev. Alwin Stokes, in charge. Mrs. Jones died of paralysis Thursday morning, at the residence of her son, Tom Jones, who resides three miles south of town. Interment was in the Winnfield Cemetery. Mrs. Jones was a consecrated Christian and was devoted to her family and her God. Rev. Stokes in giving the sermon said, "Her children rise and call her blessed. She died in the hopes of a glorious resurrection." Mrs. Jones was born in Alabama on January 31, 1853. She married Thomas Jones at the age of eighteen years. He preceded her in death thirty-six years. Mrs. Jones joined the Presbyterian Church at Old New Hope Church in Lincoln Parish at an early age. She was still a member of this church. She was the mother of ten children, five of whom survive. They are Mrs. Alma Lyles, Jonesboro; Mrs. John Harlan, Montgomery; Will Jones of Mineral Springs, Ark.; Tom Jones of Winnfield, and Frank Jones of Goldonna.
