R. M. Johnson of Sikes Is Called By Death June 4, 1936

The Lord saw fit on June 4th to call home our dear father, Richard Melton
Johnson.  He was 65 years, 4 days of age and a member of the Shady Grove
Baptist Church.

He leaves besides his widow, nine children, Mrs. Anna Dearman, Mrs. Lizzie
Ford, Mrs. Olah Adams, Mrs. Minerva Taylor, Mrs. Claudia Babcock, Mrs. Della
Hyatt, Mrs. Alma Newsom, Miss Florence Johnson, and one brother, L. V. Johnson
of Baskin, La.

A precious one from us is gone.  Once we loved is still.  A place is vacant in
our home that never can be filled.

God in his wisdom, hath called the loved one he hath given.  Tho' on earth his
body lies, his soul is safe in Heaven.

Soft and bright the stars are shining on a lonely grave where lies the one we
loved so dearly, whom we tried so hard but could not save.

We will miss your loving footsteps.  We will miss you everywhere.  Life is not
what it once was since daddy is not here.
