P. Johns, 91, Sunday P. M. Funeral services were held at the Dodson Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday for William Pinky Johns, 91, who died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elvie Carpenter, at Gaars Mill. Last rites were conducted by Rev. A. E. Brown of Minden, with Rev. J. W. Buckner of Jonesboro assisting. Interment was in the Transport Cemetery. Mr. Johns was born in Alabama on September 29, 1854, and came to Louisiana in his early youth. He was a successful farmer in Jackson and Winn Parishes and was a member of the Springhill Baptist church in Jackson Parish. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. A. D. Thomas of Quitman, Mrs. Lee Walker of Yucca, Ariz., and Mrs. Elvie Carpenter of Dodson; three sons, Wyatt, Walter, and Wesley Johns of Dodson, and a host of grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Acting as pallbearers were his grandsons, Leon, Dawson, Elmer, Billie, Hurl, and W. P. Johns II.
