Herman Johnson Dies; Burial At Friendship

Funeral services for Herman Johnson, 68, of Sikes, were held at 2 p.m. Friday
in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel at Winnfield with the Rev. H. B. Frazier
and the Rev. Mrs. Mary Walker officiating.

Burial was in the Friendship Cemetery near here.

Mr. Johnson died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, 1973 at his residence after a
short illness.

A native of LaSalle Parish, Mr. Johnson was a commercial fisherman and a
member of the United Pentecostal Church. 

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nettie Johnson of Sikes; one son, Elson
Johnson of California; one daughter, Mrs. Wilma D'Amico of Alexandria; two
stepsons, J. B. Gibson of California, and Homer Gibson, Sr., of Tioga; three
stepdaughters, Mrs. Hazel Johnson of New Orleans, Mrs. Happie Lee Dunn of
Pekin, Ill., and Mrs. Ruth Aharris of Pascagoula, Miss.; four brothers, Louie
Johnson of Deweyville, Texas, Buck Johnson of Wordville (Wardville?), Arthur
Johnson of New Orleans, and Leroy Johnson of Jonesville; three sisters, Mrs.
Bertha McPearson and Mrs. Hazel Pruett, both of Bentley, and Mrs. Beulah
Mitchell, of Alexandria; 27 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
