He was a native of Wilmer, Arkansas, but had spent most of his lifetime in Winnfield. He was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church, the Most Excellent Prince Hall Grand Royal Arch Masons, Chapter No. 54 of Louisiana. Final rites were held October 4, at 1 p.m. at Morning Star Baptist Church with Rev. C. Fitchew officiating. Burial was in the Winnfield Colored Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Josephine Johnson, Winnfield; five daughters, Jessie Mae Eurin, Los Angeles, Calif., Gloria J. Reder, Lake Charles, Margie Dean Thomas, Ft. Worth, Texas, Essie Pearl McZeal, Jennings, Lillie Pearl Jones, Los Angeles, Calif.; one son, Huey Johnson, Bakersfield, Calif.; 27 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
