All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: August 22, 1968 Winn Parish Enterprise-News American Pinecrest Senior Killed Saturday Near Jonesboro Bobby Johnson, 18 year old Pinecrest High School senior, was killed in a Saturday night crash near Jonesboro, which tool the lives of three other persons, and hospitalized two others. State police said a car skidded off a sharp La. 542 curve near Jonesboro and crashed into a tree. Other victims were identified as Rosie Lee Anderson, 20, Martha Ruth Evans, 32, and Leroy Evans, 32, all of Jonesboro. The driver, Andrew Williams, 27, of Ruston, formerly of Winnfield, was reported in satisfactory condition at a Jonesboro hospital. Betty Anderson, 15, of Jonesboro, was listed as critically injured. After treatment at a Jonesboro hospital, she was moved to Confederate Memorial Hospital in Shreveport. Troopers said the scene of the crash was a dangerous curve at the crest of a hill. the car went off the road and skidded about 65 yards into the tree. Funeral service for Bobby Johnson were held Wednesday, August 21, at 2 p.m. in the Pinecrest School gymnasium. He was a quarterback on the Pinecrest football team. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Edward Johnson, two brothers, Lionell and Bruce Edward Johnson, both of Winnfield; a sister, Patricia Ann Johnson of Winnfield and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Duffy of Winnfield. His father has been employed with the Winnfield street department for the past 18 years.
