Final Rites For J. A. Johnston Held Monday

James Arthur Johnston, 59, of Sikes, died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 1966
enroute to a Columbia hospital following an apparent heart attack.

He was a native of Sikes and a member of Zora Methodist Church.

Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Sharon Baptist Church near Sikes
with Rev. Kenneth Wall officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery under
direction of Southern Funeral Home. 

Survivors are his wife, Velma Gregory Johnston of Sikes; two daughters, Lorene
J. Coats and Chlotine Crain, both of Columbia; three sons, James L. and Bill
D. Johnston of West Monroe, and Jack D. Johnston of Columbia; one sister,
Jewel Calhoun of Sikes; five brothers, Wannie and Floyd Johnston of Sikes,
Royal and Waymon Johnston of Monroe, and C. C. Johnston of Bastrop, and seven
grandchildren.
