J. Johnson, Hotel Owner Last rites were held at Natchitoches Wednesday afternoon for John James Johnson, Sr., owner of the Winnfield Hotel, who died Tuesday afternoon at the North Louisiana Hospital in Shreveport. Services were held at the home of his sister, Mrs. W. T. Cunningham of Natchitoches with Rev. H. H. McBride of Winnfield and Rev. D. B. Rawlins, Methodist minister of Natchitoches, officiating. Interment was in a Natchitoches cemetery. Mr. Johnson, who has been in located in Winnfield for the past eight years, has up until the last few years managed the Winnfield Hotel, with the assistance of his wife. Recently, his son, J. J. "Ned" Johnson, Jr. has been managing the hotel. Before coming to Winnfield Mr. Johnson was associated with lumber companies at Natchitoches and Trout. He was born at Natchitoches 74 years ago and has been married 33 years to the former Maude Fountain. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Methodist Church. Besides his wife, he leaves one son, J. J. Johnson, Jr., of Winnfield; a brother, L. H. Johnson, Sr., of Natchitoches; a sister, Mrs. W. T. Cunningham of Natchitoches; and a grandson, J. J. Johnson, III, of Winnfield.
