Johns, 91, Of Dodson, Dies Saturday, March 9 Funeral services for William Pinky Johns, 91 years, 5 months, and 11 days, who died at his home in the Dodson community Saturday, March 11, were held Sunday afternoon at the Dodson Methodist Church with the Rev. A. E. Brown of Minden and the Rev. J. W. Buckner of Jonesboro, conducting the services. Burial was in the Transport Cemetery. A native of Alabama, Mr. Johns came to Louisiana in his teens. He was successful in farming, both in Jackson and Winn Parishes. He was a member of the Springhill Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters and three sons, Mrs. A. D. Thomas, Quitman; Mrs. Lee Walker, Yucca, Arizona; Mrs. Elvie Carpenter, Wyatt Johns, Wesley Johns, and Walter Johns, all of Dodson. Also surviving are a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Acting as pallbearers were the following grandsons of the deceased: Leon B. Johns, Dawson Johns, Elmer Johns, Billy Johns, Hurl Johns, and W. P. Johns III.
