All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: August 6, 1931 Winn Parish Enterprise Boiler Explosion Kills Hugh Jones Buried In Gansville Funeral services for Hugh Jones, 50 year old fireman for the Wyatt Lumber Company at Gandy, La., were held at Gansville Cemetery Wednesday afternoon, July 29, 1931. Jones was killed Tuesday at 11:50 a.m. when a defective boiler at the lumber plant exploded. Two others, a negro man and a man by the name of Thomas, were also killed in the explosion. Mr. Jones had been an employee of the lumber company twenty-five years. He had resided at Gandy the past five years. He is survived by his wife and four children; his mother, Mrs. R. M. Gathright, and one sister, Mrs. W. D. Puckett, Georgetown.
