Editor Enterprise: Death has taken from our midst an affectionate mother and neighbor. Mrs. Penelope Jones (nee Harvey) died January 19 at the residence of her son, J. B. Jones, after being confined to her bed about two days. She was born in Mississippi, August 27, 1837. Moved with her parents to Louisiana in 1846, and was married to J. J. Jones August 10, 1854. Professed a hope in Christ and joined the Baptist Church in 1859, in which she lived a consistent Christian life until death. She was left a widow in 1864, her husband having been lost in the Confederate army. When last heard from was sick in hospital at Mobile, Ala., in the fall of 1864. She moved to Red River County in 1870 and has lived in Red River County ever since. Old Sister Harvey, her aged mother, and four brothers are here with us. Also her two sons, Harvey and J. B. Jones, and one daughter, Elder D. P. Mace's wife, and several grandchildren to mourn her loss. We sorrow not as those who have no hope. "If we be dead with him we shall also live with him." Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life."
