Jones, 64, Lifelong Resident Cypress Creek, Dies Last rites for Wiley E. Jones, 64, lifelong resident of the Cypress Creek community, and former president of the Winn Parish Police Jury, were held Saturday, December 29, at 2 p.m., at the Cypress Creek Church. Officiating were the Rev. Waynon Mott and the Rev. Danny Blake. Mr. Jones, seriously ill only one day, succumbed in a Hodge clinic Thursday night. He had been in failing health for the past six years. Acting as pallbearers were Odell Temple, G. C. Temple, Jr., Billy Temple, Charles Edward Jones, Ellis Wayne Jones, and Murray Chandler, all nephews. Mr. Jones was the son of the late William Edward and Martha Ellen Jones, pioneer residents of Ward Four. He was a member of the Cypress Creek Church. For eight years he represented Ward Four as a member of he Winn Parish Police Jury, and for four years he served as president of the parish governing body. He farmed until 1934, after which time he was in the logging business. At the time of his death he was a logging contractor for Olin Matheson. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Jones of Dodson; five sons, Durwood Jones and Olan Jones, of Dodson; Wayman Jones of Arcadia; Delbert Jones of Minden; and Roger Jones of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Jack Driskill of Tyler, Texas, and Mrs. Preston Copeland of Homer; three brothers, Dayton Jones of Winnfield, Otis Jones of Montgomery, and Austin Jones of Dodson; one sister, Mrs. Grover Temple, of Dodson, and 12 grandchildren.
