Sonny Woods, Negro, Shoots, Kills Jeff Jones Early Sunday

Two Negroes Engage in Argument. Woods Still At Large

Leross, alias "Sonny" Wood, negro about 25 years of age, is at large and being
sought by officers for the shooting and killing of Jeff Jones, another negro
man about 25 years old, last Sunday morning about two o'clock in the T. and G.
Quarters.

It is alleged that Wood and Jones became engaged in an argument, resulting
in Wood shooting Jones with a .32-20 pistol in the left shoulder, the
bullet glancing and piercing the heart causing instant death.

Before officers could reach the scene Woods fled and a diligent search for
him has been of no avail.

The case will be brought to the attention of the grand jury when it convenes
next week.

Woods is an ex-convict and has served twenty months in the state pen on a
conviction of the charge of larceny.
