Jones Held At Atlanta Funeral services for Rufus T. Jones, 82, a native of Arkansas who made his home in Louisiana since the age of 11, were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 1967, in the Atlanta Baptist Church. The Rev. Ray Teal, pastor, and the Rev. C. C. Martin, pastor of Laurel Heights Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in the Sardis Cemetery. Mr. Jones died in a Winnfield hospital early Tuesday following a short illness. He was a retired farmer and had been an employee of the Louisiana Forestry Department in its early years. He was a member of the Atlanta Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ola Bazar Jones; six sons, the Rev. C. W. Jones and Archie Jones, both of Winnfield, Dr. Carl Jones of Ruston, Ardis Jones of Jackson, Miss., Curtis Jones of Houston, Texas, Raymond Jones of Shreveport, and 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tritos Ferguson, Ed Collins, Jr., Richard Collins, Marvin Horn, Dennis Taylor, and Charles Worsham.
