Jordan, 72, of Winnfield, served as sheriff from 1956-1976. Before becoming sheriff, Jordan served as a Louisiana State Police officer from 1940-1955. He was also a member of Eastern Star Lodge No. 151 F. & A. M., and a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. Survivors include his wife, Clara Jordan of Winnfield; two daughters, Nellie Springfield and Sue Avant, both of West Monroe; two brothers, Cranford Jordan, Sr., of Winnfield, and John K. Jordan of West Monroe; four sisters, Ollie Armstrong, Audie Dietzel, and Mert Prince, all of Georgetown, and Bert Vickers of Urania; and four grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home with the Revs. Herman Savoie and Edward Smith officiating. Burial was in Hurricane Grove Cemetery near Sikes.
