M. Jordan, affectionately known to the residents of the Jordan Hill Community and a host of friends throughout the parish as "Aunt Fanny", succumbed at the age of 70 years, 10 months, and 8 days at her home in the Jordan Hill Community April 21st. Mrs. Jordan, who had been in ill health for the last two years was stricken with paralysis about three weeks before her death. She was a native of Grant Parish where she was raised and educated. She was born on April 13, 1864 and was married to Mr. W. M. Jordan in 1880. Funeral services were conducted at the Jordan Hill Cemetery on April 22 by the Rev. Harrison Cockerham, pastor of the Big Creek Baptist Church of which she was a member with a host of relatives and friends present. Surviving are five sons, Messrs. Marion, Joe, Ervin, Lawrence, and Lonnie Jordan; five daughters, Mesdames Joe Atwell, Charley Smith, John Maxey, and Monroe Rosier, all of Winnfield and Mrs. Lacy Boyett of Sprinhill, La.; forty one grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; two brothers, Messrs. Alf Liles of Winnfield and Mr. John Liles of Monroe, La.; two sisters, Mesdames Lizzie Forest and S. P. Smith of Winnfield, Route Two. Pallbearers were John, Clifford, and Walter Bartley, Wade Moore, and Hatley Lowery. All of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren survive but two.
