All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: May 29, 1941 Winn Parish Enterprise William Jordan, 82, Succumbs At Jordan Hill One Of Communities Oldest Citizens Buried May 23 William Jordan, 82, know by his many friends as "Uncle Bill" died at his home in Jordan Hill May 22, having suffered a broken hip seven months ago. Funeral services were held at the Jordan Hill Cemetery, May 23, with the Rev. J. A. Cockerham of East Winnfield officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted at the grave next Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Members of the local lodge will meet at the lodge, Winnfield, at 2:30 to go in a group to the cemetery. A lifelong resident of Winn Parish, and one of the oldest settlers of his community, he was the son of Eli Jordan and Rena Peoples. Mr. Jordan was the father of 10 children and was a member of the Jordan Hill Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge at Winnfield. Surviving are five sons and five daughters, Joe, Ervin, Marion, Lawrence, and Lonnie Jordan, all of Jordan Hill; Mrs. Monroe Rosier, Mrs. C. S. Smith, Mrs. Joe Atwell, Mrs. John Maxey, all of Jordan Hill, and Mrs. Lacy Boyett of Springhill; four sisters, Mrs. Armenda Liles of Monroe, Mrs. Susan Radford of Harrisonburg, Mrs. Cynthia Keen of Georgetown, and Mrs. Farby Jordan of Jordan Hill. He also leaves 44 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Acting as pallbearers sere six grandsons, Ellis Jordan, Lloyd Smith, Wilford Jordan, Clayton Jordan, Walter Jordan, and Grady Smith.
