Winn Family Loses 3 In Auto Mishap

A Winn man, his stepson, and a son-in-law drowned Friday night, January 13,
when their car plunged into an 18-foot deep water hole on the edge of
Montgomery in Grant Parish.

Killed were Odus Lovell, 46, James L. Juneau, 23, his son-in-law, and his
stepson, Donald Ray Taylor, 22.  Lovell lived near Mt. Zion, Ward 5.

Juneau lost control of the station wagon and it struck two trees before
dropping into the barrow pit less than a mile north of Montgomery on La. 34,
Montgomery-Winnfield State Route.

A resident nearby heard the crash about 7:30 p.m., found the car's taillights
sticking out of the water.

Lovell and Taylor were pipeline workers for Brown & Root, Houston.  Juneau
lived in Pineville.

The trio were enroute to Lovell's home.  Love and Juneau were married, Taylor
was single.

Funeral services for all three were held Monday in the Union Hill Baptist
Church at Mt. Zion with burial in the church cemetery.  Rev. H. B. Gorham
officiated with Hixson Brothers in charge of services.

Lovell's survivors include his wife, Mrs. Laura Lovell, sons, Michael Ray
Lovell, Odus W. Lovell, Herman L. Lovell, all of Montgomery; nine daughters,
Mrs. Glenda Juneau of Pineville, Mrs. Shirley LaCaze of Alexandria, Mrs. Helen
Morris and Miss Lola Mae Lovell, both of Leesville, Miss Dorothy Lovell and
Miss Margie Lovell, both of Montgomery, Mrs. Louise Martin of Chicago, Ill.,
Mrs. Mabel E. Weavers of New Orleans, Mrs. Bonnie Jean Morris of Kingport,
Tenn.; two stepsons, James Milton Taylor and George Willie Taylor of Lansing,
Mich.; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Willie Faye Lestage and Miss Doris Ann Taylor
of Montgomery, Mrs. Bertha Taylor of Lansing, Mich., and Mrs. Edna Lee Taylor
of Pineville; four brothers, Odus N. Lovell of Kirbyville, Texas, Carl O.
Lovell of New Iberia, A. Gordon Lovell of Alexandria, and Albert A. Lovell
of Baton Rouge; five sisters, Mrs. Ethel C. Lovell, Mrs. Mabel Chaney, and
Mrs. Geraldine Naquin of Alexandria, and Mrs. Bessie Cace of Center, Texas and
Mrs. Bertha Lee Teal of Maryland; 15 grandchildren.

In addition to stepsisters, Taylor is also survived by brothers; James and
George Taylor, Lansing, Mich., a half brother, Harold Lashley of Montgomery;
sisters, Doris Ann Taylor, Montgomery, Bertha Mae Taylor, Lansing, and
Edna Lee Taylor, Pineville.

Juneau is survived also by two sons, Robert and James, Jr., and a daughter,
Mary Katherine, of Pineville.
