J. H. Keen, 73 Years, Succumbs Sunday, Aug. 30

Funeral Services Were Held Monday by Rev. Joe Adams

J. H. Keen, 73 years of age, died at his home several miles east of Joyce
Sunday night, August 30, 1936 at 11:45 o'clock.

Mr. Keen was confined to his bed about six months before death claimed him. 
He died at the old Keen home where he had resided for about 55 years.

Mr. Keen united with the Baptist church in his boyhood days and remained
until death claimed him.  He was married to Miss Lizzie Hutson in 1903, who
preceded him in death 15 years.  To this union nine children were born, three
daughters, Miss Ila Keen, Miss Nellie Keen, of Joyce, and Mrs. Alford Spangler
of Urania; six sons, Cicero, Chris, John, Vernon, and Whit Keen, all of Joyce,
and Robert Keen of Winnfield.  He is also survived by two grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by the Jonesboro Funeral Home.  Interment was
in the James Cemetery.  Rev. Joe Adams conducted the services.

Mr. Keen leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
