All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: March 11, 1954 Winn Parish Enterprise Mrs. Janie Kelley Is Buried March 6 At Couley Church Funeral services for Mrs. Janie Kelley, 81, of Couley, were held at the Couley Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, with Rev. Lula Wardlow, Rev. Grafton Shaw, and Rev. Henry Pinkard officiating. Interment followed in the Double Church graveyard. Mrs. Kelley passed away March 5 after a lengthy illness. She had lived most of her life in the Couley community where she was married in 1889 to Caddo Kennedy. To this union were born three girls, one of whom preceded her in death. Mr. Kennedy passed away in 1896. In 1912 she was married to Mid Kelley and to them were born three sons, with Edward passing away in 1925, and Mr. Kelley in 1936. Mrs. Kelley was a member of the Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her Christian life and always making life seem brighter with her kind words and sweet smile. She is survived by one brother, Edward Shaw of Shreveport; two sons, Edwin Kelley and Bryan Kelley of Couley; two daughters, Mrs. Charlie Tilton of Winnfield and Mrs. C. O. Kieffer of Mineola, Texas. She had 12 grandchildren, one of whom, Morgan Rikard, lost his life in World War II, and two great grandchildren.
