John W. Kelly, 19, of Ward Two, Killed in France War Department Notifies Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Kelly Mr. and Mrs. Ross Kelly of Route 2, Winnfield, received a telegram from the War Department last Friday stating that their son, Pvt. John W. Kelly, 19, had been killed in action in France on July 10. Private Kelly was in the infantry and had been overseas for three months. Pvt. Kelly had been in the service for nine months, and prior to that time was engaged in farming on Route Two. Surviving, besides his parents, are two brother, Carson and Jimmy Kelly, of Route Two, three sisters, Iona Varnell, Winnfield, Mildred Jane Kelly and Nettie Mae Kelly of Route Two.
