M. Kelley of Ward Ten Dead Mr. J. M. Kelley, 69 years old, a pioneer citizen of Ward Ten died at hishome near Goldonna last Saturday, January 2, at 8 o'clock following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Kelley was born and raised in Winn Parish in the Ward Ten settlement and was among the oldest and most respected citizens of that section and also of the entire parish. He was a member of the Baptist Church with his membership at Yankee Springs, having joined that church more than forty years ago. In 1878 he was married to Miss Catherine Shively, a resident of his community to which union ten children were born, nine of whom are living. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Catherine Kelley of Ward Ten, three daughters, Mrs. Rinda Campbell of Wichita Falls, Tex., Mrs. Arilla Harper of Saline, Mrs. Essie Reed of Goldonna, six sons, W. P. Kelley of Gansville, La., James T. Kelley of Chicago, Ill., E. C. Kelley of Goldonna, V. P. Kelley of Sikes, Lawson Kelley and Audrey Kelley of Goldonna, La. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. F. M. Shows of Saline, Sunday, January 3 at four o'clock and interment made in Antioch church cemetery.
