The Southern Sentinel (Winnfield, LA), Friday, January 1, 1886
Died: — On Dec. 27, 1885 Miss Levenia Alice Kelly. The deceased was born Feb. 
28, 1869, and at the time of her death was 16 years, 9 months, and 27 days of 
age. She was the first daughter of Dr. R. O. Kelly, of Grant parish, who died 
with small pox 2 years ago, in that parish. After her father's death, her uncle 
Senator Geo. A. Kelly took her, and cared for her as a father. It is sad to 
think, that one so young and beautiful should be separated from us, just as she 
has reached the base of life's mountain, but sad as it is, we have the blessed 
consolation, that she yielded to the call of our Heavenly Father in the full 
exercise of a living faith, that she has gone to the realms of immortal bliss, 
there to be with her Savior, whom she delighted to love and serve, during the 
short space of time, allotted to her on earth. She leaves a host of friends and 
relatives to mourn her loss. That our lives may be as unspotted, and our faith 
as strong as hers, when we come to cross the cold Jordan of Death is the prayer 
of a
