Jasper W. Kelly, 73, Died In Monroe Hospital Saturday


Funeral services were held Monday at the Friendship Baptist Church for Jasper
W. Kelly, 73, of Gaars Mill, who died in St. Francis Sanitarium in Monroe
Saturday morning after an illness of several months.

Officiating at the funeral was Rev. Wayne Barton of the New Orleans Baptist
Bible Institute.  Interment was in Friendship Cemetery.

Mr. Kelly was born on July 7, 1876.  His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Kelly.  Mr. Kelly was an active member of the Harmony Grove Baptist Church
and a resident of that community for many years.  He was the father of 10
children, all of who survive.  

Surviving also are four brothers, Wycliff Kelly, Jimmy Kelly, Amon Kelly, and
Troy Kelly; three sisters, Mrs. Jim Sanders, Mrs. H. P. Bishop, and Mrs. John
Eldridge.  His six sons are:  Troy Lee, Rushel, and Ross, of Dodson; Strass of
Joyce; Homer of Minden; daughters are Mrs. Hilton Gorham of Winnfield, Mrs.
Elvia Vassaur of Borger, Texas, and Mrs. Etta Wilkerson of Hodge.

A host of grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
