MID KELLY OF COULEY Funeral Services Held on Sunday, March 1, at Double Church Mid Kelly, of Couley, well-known resident of Winn parish, died at his home Saturday morning at 2:40 after a nine days illness with pneumonia. Mr. Kelly died just ten days after the death of his brother, Willis Kelly, also a pneumonia victim, whom he waited upon during his illness. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Double Church, with interment in the Couley cemetery. Rev. G.A. McVey, pastor of the Methodist church officiated. Burial was under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home. Mr. Kelly was born February 3, 1871 in Downsville, Lincoln parish. He came to Winn parish with his parents when 11 years of age and resided in the Flat Creek community in Ward Three. For the past thirty-five years he has lived in Couley. Mr. Kelly had a host of friends. He had a jovial disposition and enjoyed telling amusing stories of childhood days. He was a progressive farmer and noted for his fondness for fishing and outdoor sports. He was a member of the Calvin Baptist church. Surviving are: his widow, Mrs. Janie Shaw Kelly, two sons, Edwin and Bryan of Couley and two step-daughters, Mrs. Boyd Johnson of Couley and Mrs. C.O. Keiffer of Mineola, Texas, and one brother, Jim Kelly of Natchitoches, LA.
