All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: January 24, 1957 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Last Rites For Eugene Keyes Held Sunday At Sardis Last rites for Carl Eugene Keyes, 50, who died in a local hospital Friday night, January 18, 1957, following a heart attack earlier in the evening, were held Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church. Officiating were the Rev. E. B. Barton, Rev. Jerry Green, and Rev. Henry Fox. Burial was in the Brown Cemetery, Sardis community, under direction of Hixson Funeral Home. Acting as pallbearers were Henry Hodge, Ed Grigsby, Frank Barton, H. A. Cogley, Kenneth Sorenson, and Edward Collins, Jr. Born and reared in the Sardis community, Mr. Keyes was the son of the late Joshua Keyes and Louianie Shelton Keyes. He was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church and was Training Union director of that church. He spent his entire life in Winn with the exception of the time he spent in service in World War Two. At the time of his death he was an employee of Peoples Hardware. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Evans Keyes and one daughter, Joy Evelyn, of Winnfield; five brothers, Ivy, Archie, Roy, and Josh of the Sardis community and Vester of Tallulah.
