Keyes Interred At Sardis Thursday P.M. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church for Joshua Ivy Keyes, 70, who died at his home on the Atlanta Road at approximately 10:30 a.m. Wednesday immediately following a heart attack. Mr. Keyes was born in Taylorsville, Miss., and came to Winn Parish in 1896, remaining her until his death Wednesday. Officiating at the funeral were Rev. F. M. Shows, assisted by Rev. H. J. Mott, pastor of the Laurel Heights Baptist Church. Pallbearers were R. L. Roy, Jack Smith, Herman Barton, Bill Rice, H. A. Cogley, and Ray Taylor. Interment was in the old Sardis Cemetery. Mr. Keyes was preceeded in death by his wife several years ago, and is survived by the following six sons: Ivy, Archie, Eugene, Roy, and Josh, Jr., of Winnfield; Vester, of Tallulah; five brothers, W. B. of Winnfield, Rev. J. H. Keyes and W. M. Keyes of Winnsboro, and H. A. Keyes of Fresno, Calif. Honorary pallbearers at the funeral were Johnny Holmes, Ed Grigsby, Ray Foster, Clyde Sherwood, Kenneth Williams, Carl Smilty, and Ernest Spikes.
