All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: June 16, 1949 Winn Parish Enterprise Death Claims Ivy Joshua Keyes Of Sardis June 15 Ivy Joshua Keyes, 69, died suddenly at his home in the Sardis Community Wednesday, June 15, 1949 at 10:30 a.m. He had been failing in health for the past two years. Funeral services were conducted at the Sardis Baptist Church with the Rev. F. M. Shows and Rev. F. M. York of Calvin officiating. Burial was in the Old Sardis Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were R. L. Roy, Jack Smith, Herman Barton, Bill Rice, H. A. Cogley, and Ray Taylor. A native of Mississippi, Mr. Keyes had moved to Winn Parish in his early youth. He married Miss Lou Annie Shelton of the Sardis Community and she preceded him in death in April, 1930. A member of the Sardis Baptist Church, Mr. Keyes had been a farmer in the Sardis Community thirty some odd years, until he tired because of ill health. Surviving are six sons, Vester of Tallulah, La.; Eugene of Winnfield; Ivy, Archie, Roy, and Josh, Jr., all of Route 1, Winnfield; four brothers, Rev. J. H. Keyes and Morris Keyes, Winnsboro, La.; Howard of California, and Ben of Gorhamtown.
