All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: August 14, 1974 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Final Rites For Jerry Lynn Key Held Aug. 14 The body of Jerry Lynn Key, 22, of Winnfield, was found about 9 a.m. Monday morning in his third floor room at Olin Hall on the Northeast Louisiana University campus by a school janitor making his weekly rounds to clean dormitory rooms, according to NLU officials. Officials ruled Key had died several days before his body was discovered. A member of Laurel Heights Baptist Church, Key was to receive his B. S. Degree in Pharmacy this Friday. Cause and time of death was not immediately available pending the release of an autopsy report. According to school officials, friends reported last seeing Key Wednesday and that this was not unusual since he frequently was out of town on weekends. Funereal services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, at Laurel Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Haley, pastor of the church, officiating. Rev. Alton Thompson assisted. Burial, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Winnfield, was at Bethlehem Cemetery. Pallbearers were Earl Roulaine, Jim May, Greg Robichaux, Phillip Deaton, Jim Attaway, Houston Bayers, Terry Skains, and David Smith. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Della Key, and three brothers, Ira Joe Key of Many, Bennie Ray Key and David Wayne Key, both of Winnfield.
