Royd Keys Killed On D-Day In Invasion Of France Rev. and Mrs. J. H. Keys of West Monroe, former residents of the Sardis community, Winn Parish, have been notified that their son, Cpl. Royd Keys, 25, was killed in action in France on June 6, 1944. Cpl. Keys had been stationed in England for the past two years and was attached to the 129th Cavalry Division. He was married this year to Miss Florence Farnaday of London, England, who had enlisted in the Wrens. At the outbreak of the war Cpl. Keys was in his senior year at the Louisiana State Normal College. He was very popular with his fellow students. Rev. and Mrs. Keys have another son, Lt. Fred Keys, who is a fighter pilot, and who at present is still in the States. Others surviving are two brothers, Floyd of California and Lonnie of Vicksburg, and one sister, Miss Audie Keys of Cotton Valley, and a large number of relatives in Winn Parish. Mrs. Hasson Morris and Mrs. Olivia Eagles of Winnfield are aunts of the deceased. The above picture was taken of Cpl. Keys and his bride on their wedding day in London, England.
