Davies, 120 Ted Price Lane, Winnfield, LA 71483 Source: Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Date: 24 Nov 2004 From: August 8, 1884 Southern Sentinel Died: At his residence in Ward Six in this parish, on Friday, August 1st, 1884, Richard Killingsworth, caused by a tree falling on him while pulling fodder. It is with pain that we are compelled to chronicle the death of our friend and fellow citizen, a resident for 25 years of this parish and ward six. The writer of this has known him since boyhood and can say that as a husband and father, a citizen and neighbor, a Christian and Mason, he had no superior and few equals. He could always be found at his post of duty as a citizen, his hand was ever open in the cause of charity, he was a brave and gallant soldier during the civil war, a devoted Christian and a devoted Mason. He was known throughout this parish and when the news of his sudden and unexpected death will be read by the public, there will be pangs of regret pass through the hearts of everyone who knew him. We for ourselves, and the entire parish, tender to his bereaved and distressed family our heartfelt sympathy. We can truly say that "he was one of the noblest works of God - an honest man." "Requiescat in pace." =====
