C. Killingsworth Services for Columbus C. Killingsworth of Wren Acres were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 10, in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Calvin Phelps officiating. Burial, following Masonic graveside rites, was in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Mr. Killingsworth, 80, a resident for the past two years of Parkview Guest Care Center, died Friday, December 8, 1989 at Humana Hospital-Winn Parish after a long illness. He was born October 31, 1903, son of James C. Killingsworth, Sr., of Winn Parish and Mrs. Julia Irwin Killingsworth, of Grand Parish. He was recently preceded in death by his only brother, J. Collier Killingsworth, Jr., of Georgetown, La. Mr. Killingsworth was retired from the accounting department of Crown- Zellerbach's Joyce lumber and plywood manufacturing operation. He was a long time employee of that company's predecessor, having worked for Tremont Lumber Company at both Tremont's Rochelle, La. lumber processing plant and later at its Joyce mill. Prior to declining health, Mr. Killingsworth was a dedicated Sunday school teacher, member of the Adult 5 Men's Sunday School class, and had served faithfully as a deacon of First Baptist Church in Winnfield. He had been an ordained Baptist deacon for over 50 years. He was also a 32nd Mason. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Thelma Thomas Killingsworth of Winnfield, La.; two nephews, Earl D. and Bob Killingsworth, both of Jena, La.; and brother in law, John Thomas of Edwards, Miss.; a sister in law, Marguerite and her husband, J. Hubert Belisle of Baton Rouge, La.; and a number of other relatives. Pallbearers were Edward J. Grigg, Cravon M. Herring, Dr. Jerry W. Williams, Donald M. Causey, Joe D. Dosher, and Lamar Tarver.
