All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: February 29, 1952 Winnfield News-American Mrs. Alice King, 78, Former Verda Resident Succumbs Two Sisters In Winnfield Among Many Survivors Funeral services were held at the Sardis Baptist Church Monday for Mrs. Alice Durham King, 78, of Shreveport, a former resident of Verda for many years, who died in the home of a daughter, Mrs. H. C. Moore, in Baytown, Texas, Saturday, Feb. 23, 1952. Interment was in the Sardis Cemetery with the Earthman Funeral Home of Baytown in charge. The deceased was buried beside her husband, the late Hardy King, who died several years ago. Mrs. King had lived for the past few years with her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Adams of Shreveport. She is survived by Mrs. Adams, Mrs. Moore, and a third daughter, Mrs. Hal Frazier of Houston, Texas; a son, J. L. King of Corpus Christi, Texas; five brothers, Dr. J. P. Durham of Pineville; W. W. Durham of Alexandria; Jesse Durham of Baton Rouge; Robert Durham of Zwolle, and T. B. Durham, Jr., of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five sisters, Mrs. Fannie Mathews of Winnfield; Mrs. Nellie Richardson of Winnfield; Mrs. Ida Cupples of West Monroe; Mrs. Leola Wallace of Verda; and Mrs. Joanna Durham of Natchitoches; several grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
