Martin, Jena, LA REV. JOHN KITCHENHAM [KITCHINGHAM] Funeral services for Reverend John D. Kitchenham, 86, of Columbia were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 1981, in the First Baptist Church in Columbia with Reverend Cecil Gregory officiating. Burial was in Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson under direction of Riser and son. Masonic graveside services were conducted by Columbia Lodge No. 164 F&AM. Reverend Kitchenham died Wednesday as a result of an apparent heart attack suffered while fishing alone on alke near his home. He was a member of Columbia Masonic Lodge for 63 years and a former pastor of First Baptist Church of Columbia. Also Reverend Kitchenham had served many other Baptist churches in the area, including five years at the Calvin Baptist Church, several years at Cypress Creek, Hurricane Creek, Old Union Baptist Church in Joyce and others. He was preceded in death approximately seven years ago by his wife, Mrs. Mattie Poisso Kitchenham, who was a native of the Montgomery area. Survivors include one son, John D. Kitchenham, Jr., of San Diego, California, two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Mounce of Pineville and Mrs. Maurene Tolar of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Martin of Calvin; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Among those from the Winnfield area attending the funeral were his nephews and a niece Robert, James and John H. Martin, Reverend and Mrs. Charles Martin, and Mrs. Betty Nugent. They were joined by their brother, Lewis F. Martin of Jena.
