Mrs. M. S. Knighten Succumbed May 28 At Lafayette, La.

Mrs. M. S. Knighten, 69, former resident of Winnfield, died at her home in
Lafayette, La., Friday, May 28, 1948 at 7 a.m., after several years of ill
health.  Funeral services were held Saturday with burial in the Lafayette
Cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Knighten and family were residents of Winnfield for many years,
having moved to Lafayette 26 years ago.  While a resident here she was a
member of the First Baptist Church.  Prior to her marriage to Mr. Knighten she
was Miss Carrie Garrard of Magnolia, Ark.

Surviving are her husband, four daughters and a son.  They are: Mrs. W. H.
Mixon, Atlanta; Miss Loma Knighten and Mrs. Doris Baxter of Lafayette; and
Mrs. Joe Herpin, New Orleans; and Harry Knighten, Lafayette.

Attending the funeral from Winnfield were Mrs. D. L. Hoffman, Mrs. I. S.
Walker, and Bullard Jones.
