Long Knott, Winn Native, Dies Funeral services for Clara Long Knott, a sister of Huey and Earl Long, who died January 17, 1973 in Many at the age of 83. Mrs. Knott, born in Winn Parish, married banker Milton Knott and moved to Many in 1914. She was active in civic affairs and was the moving force in having Sabine Parish's Ft. Jesup developed into a state park, prevailing on her brother, Governor Earl K. Long, to make the move in 1956. Ft. Jesup was a major U. S. Army post during the Mexican War. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Olive Long Cooper of Natchitoches and Mrs. Lucille Long Hunt of Ruston, and several nieces and nephews, including U. S. Sen. Russell Long and John Hunt of Monroe, former State Public Service Commissioner.
