Final Rites for Mrs. D. L. Kirkland Held at Sikes

On Friday, April 17, at 9:50 o'clock p.m., Mrs. D. L. Kirkland passed away at
the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. C. Blount, of Doyline.  Mrs. Kirkland was
the oldest child and the first to pass away.  She was 78 years of age.

Funeral services were held at the Sikes Baptist Church on Sunday, April 19, at
2:30 o'clock with Rev. Clyde Parker and Rev. Brown of Doyline officiating.

Interment was at the Sikes Cemetery under the direction of Edmonds Funeral
Home.

Pallbearers were Chester Lee Kirkland, Will Edd Sanders, Alton Byrd, Clyde
Gates, J. D. Bushy, and Howard Kinney.

Surviving Mrs. Kirkland are three sons and two daughters.  They are Chester of
El Dorado, Arkansas, Arnold of Shreveport, Lawrence of Texarkana, Texas, Mrs.
J. C. Blount, Doyline, Mrs. E. D. Prince, Dodson.  Her four sisters and six
brothers are Mrs. J. I. Taylor, Sikes, Mrs. Randy Kinney, Edgewood, Texas,
Mrs. Jewel Holloway, Crowville, Jesse Gates, Sam Gates, Ervin Gates, Sikes,
and Oliver Gates, Sikes, Robert Gates, Joyce, and Dewey Gates, Crowville.

She leaves ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
