W. "Bill" Labat, 72, of Winnfield were held at 10 a.m. Monday in Southern Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Calvin Phelps and Eugene Love officiating. Burial was in Goldonna Cemetery. Mr. Labat died Saturday, November 8, 1980 in the local hospital after a long illness. He was a native of Grant Parish, a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield, and a member of Kingdom Builders Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. Survivors include his wife, Verna Lea Labat of Winnfield; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry Bitner and Ms. Glenda Flinn, both of Houston; a brother, Douglas Labat of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Billye Hayward of Sacramento; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were Frank Shaw, Claude Pulley, Elton Brewton, G. E. Brewton, Reggie Gates, and Holmes Harris. Honorary pallbearers were Otis Machen, Clyde Jones, L. L. Brewton, and Jim Russell.
