Dr. B. C. Land, Former Pastor Here, Dies Wed.

Dr. B. C. Land, former pastor of the First Baptist Church here, died Wednesday
at Fort Smith, Arkansas.  Dr. Land was stricken with a heart attack in his
hotel room and died at 2:30 p.m. shortly after a doctor arrived.

He was in Fort Smith conducting a revival.

Dr. Land was pastor here from 1933 to 1939.  During these years he endeared
himself in the lives and hearts of many families in this area.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. B. C. Land of Jackson, Mississippi; a son,
Carroll Land, an airline pilot stationed in Kansas City, Mo., two daughters,
Elizabeth, who is married and living in Jackson, Mississippi, and Ada Ruth,
also of Jackson.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at four o'clock in the Calvary Baptist
Church of Jackson.
