Lang of Atlanta Dies In Shreveport Dudley D. Lang, former state representative of Winn Parish, died at the Schumpert sanitarium in Shreveport Tuesday afternoon on his 47th birthday after a long illness. Mr. Lang was born near Atlanta, Jan. 4, 1897 and volunteered for the army upon graduation from Verda High School in 1917, serving throughout World War I and being honorably discharged in 1919. He resumed his education at Louisiana State Normal College and took up the teaching profession, being principal of several schools in Winn Parish. In 1928 he entered the saw mill business and was owner of several saw mills in Winn and Grant Parishes. He was elected to the state legislature in 1932 and served until 1936. At the time of his death he was secretary of the parish selective service board. Mr. Lang was an outstanding citizen of Winn Parish and a community leader, being a member of the Baptist Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion and active in other organizations. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eula Harlan Lang; one daughter, Mrs. James Murphy of Milwaukee, Wis.; one son, Willard Lang of Atlanta; his father, R. M. Lang of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. James Fletcher of Colfax and Ms. Aaron Fletcher of Verda; four brothers, O. Ross Lang, R. B. Lang, Otho Lang, and Pierce Lang, all of Montgomery; besides a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Mars Hill Baptist Church with burial in the family plot at the same place.
