All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: November 22, 1995 Winn Parish Enterprise News-American Elizabeth Johnson Lawley Funeral services for Elizabeth Johnson Lawley, age 93, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, in the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church, Winnfield, La., with the Rev. Leland McCullough officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Winnfield City Cemetery. Mrs. Lawley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was a Life Member of the Women of the Church. She had served as secretary-treasurer of the Sunday School for over fifty years and was a dedicated Sunday School teacher for many years. She was the President of the Winnfield Chapter of the American Legion Auxiliary and was named Best Unit President in 1991-92. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Palestine Chapter, Order of Eastern Star; and received the Winn Parish Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame Award in 1993 for outstanding volunteer work in the community. She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Cortez Lawley and two daughters, Marie Elizabeth Lawley and Betty Jo Lawley Gaar. She is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Della and Newton Forrest of Winnfield, La., and Gloria and John Echols of Shreveport, La.; one grandson, Dr. Gregory Gordon Gaar; two granddaughters, Lisa Tencer and Laura Echols-Richter; four graeat grandchildren, John Thomas Tencer, Sarah Elizabeth Tencer, Casey Richter, and Julie Richter. Pallbearers will be Richard Watts, Harold Hickey, Benny Long, Ronnie Brewton, Cliff Whitehead, and Frank Echols.
