All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: May 30, 1935 Winn Parish Enterprise Funeral Services For Mrs. Susan Lawrence Thursday Afternoon Mrs. Susan Emeline Lawrence, aged 87, died in Shreveport at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Geo. McQuiston, Wednesday morning at 6:40 o'clock. Funeral services were conducted at the McCook Funeral Home at 9 o'clock Thursday morning and burial was made in the Tison Cemetery, about 12 miles south of Winnfield at 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The deceased is the widow of John N. Lawrence, who died many years ago. She was the daughter of James E. Tison and Bettie E. Albright. She was reared in the community of Albright's Prairie near the line of the parishes of Winn and Grant, where she lived the greater part of her life. She was the mother of eight children, the four following survive: Edmond and Oscar Lawrence of Georgetown, Mrs. Pearl Lawrence O'Neal of Houston and Mrs. Hattie Lawrence McQuiston of Shreveport. The deceased is also survived by 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Melton of Packton and Mrs. Nora Paige of Montgomery, and one brother, Barney Tison of Verda, La. She was also a sister to the deceased wife of Huey P. Long, Sr., Mrs. Caledonia Tison Long. (Note: The George McQuiston mentioned in this obituary was one of Sen. Huey P. Long's personal bodyguards)
