At Sikes Dies Suddenly Sunday In Company's Employ For Past 28 Years Served At Stations H. C. Lea, age 60, died at his home in Sikes Sunday, March 8th, following a sudden heart attack. Mr. Lea, 60 years old, was born in Tangipahoa Parish, August 28, 1870. For twenty-eight years Mr. Lea had been a station agent for the Tremont and Gulf Railway Company, serving in that capacity at Chatham, Winnfield, Eros, and finally at Sikes, where he died. His long services was characterized by faithful and efficient discharge of the duties to his office. He was a member of the Masonic fraternity, Eros Lodge No. 295, F. & A. M. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. H. C. Lea, five children, Mrs. Dora Gray, San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. J. E. Rogers, West Monroe, La., Mrs. A. F. Kersh, Hattiesburg, Miss., Miss Mina Lea of Sikes, and L. E. Lea of Beeville, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Mathews, Bogalusa, Mrs. Dora Varnado, four brothers, R. E. Lea, Eros, E. E. Lea, Rochelle, George Lea, Paula Valley, Okla., and I. Lea. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Alwin Stokes, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Winnfield, with interment in the Salem Church Cemetery at Eros, Monday at two o'clock.
