Joe Lemmons Killed In Action In Germany April 11 Mother and Two Brothers Residents of Winnfield Pfc. Joe Dean Lemmons, son of Mrs. Maggie Lemmons and brother of Rev. Dan Lemmons and Amos Lemmons, was killed in action in Germany on April 11 according to a telegram received by the mother here last Saturday. Pfc. Lemmons had been overseas since the spring of 1942 and entered the service in the first draft. He was with the 45th Anti-Tank Division of the 5th Army, but at the time of his death was in the reconnaissance crew that went ahead of the infantry touching off enemy mines. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Maggie Lemmons, seven brothers, Rev. Dan Lemmons and Amos Lemmons of Winnfield, Rev. Douglas Lemmons and Buster Lemmons of Olla, Clifford and Dave Lemmons, Chase, Kan.; three sisters, Marguerite Johnson, Jennings, Okla., Mrs. Nettie Dick, Coffeyville, Kans., Mrs. Naomi Fowler, Chase, Kans.
